DNP Essential IV. Information Systems/Technology and Patient Care Technology for the Improvement and Transformation of Healthcare
This essential we evaluate the design, evaluation, and application of informatic processes to health problems based upon thoughtful analyses of advantages and disadvantages of technology applications for healthcare. In addition, the collection of appropriate and accurate data to generate evidence for nursing practice and evaluate programs of care. Through this essential I have been able to examine and determine accuracy of a variety of informational resources. I have learned about devices and procedures that help screen precancerous lesions that ultimately reduce cervical cancer. As my project evolved, I learned how to analyze data that can contribute to advanced clinical decision making. For example, I analyzed the data shared with me from Uganda on the use of the thermacoagulator in the designated clinics. I also analyzed the survey results received from participants in the education training which I provided. I also became an expert consultant on the operation of the Thermocoagulator . Also the creation of my e-portfolio has allowed me to share my success.

Reflections
Through this essential I have been able to examine and determine accuracy of a variety of informational sources. These skills are helpful in assisting consumers with obtaining appropriate health information. I also learned about various information technologies and developed skills in using informatics to improve patient outcomes. Learning how to analyze data can contribute to advanced clinical decision making. I hope to further develop and perfect my data mining skills in the upcoming years.
The above examples demonstrate the knowledge learned in performing searches on websites to find and analyze consumer education. A presentation on the use of digital portfolios, such as this one, is provided as well. In addition, I was able to perfect my computer skills and developed this site with these advanced skills perfected through my education in informatics based on my research and presentation of digital portfolios. I also learned how to explore different learning platforms to share my education with healthcare providers.
