DNP essential I. Scientific Underpinnings for Practice

Through this essential I have been able to examine nursing practice and theories and come up with a evidence-based project to implement change. I have met competency by completing my scholarly project and analyzing the data. I had the opportunity to present my project among healthcare providers at Harvard University, and the National Practitioner Association of Maryland.  .I am the guest speaker for the 200th Florence Nightingale Celebration for the Maryland Nursing Association.

Reflections

Through this essential I have been able to examine nursing practice and theories, incorporating  other philosophies, to develop my own personal beliefs in obtaining a better understanding of the nursing profession.  I have also been able to integrate biophysical, psychosocial, and analytical sciences in the improvement of my knowledge and nursing practice. I was able to see the Impact that my theoretical framework contributed to my project. I titled my defense “Something out of nothing” and that’s because I began with just a small idea and a great deal of passion that now could potentially save other’s lives. I have defined what impact means to me.
