DNP essential III. Clinical Scholarship and Analytical Methods for Evidence-Based Practice

In this essential the use of analytic methods to critically appraise existing literature and other evidence to determine and implement the best evidence for practice. My scholarly DNP project has helped to meet competency in this essential as well as my IRB approval. I was also approved by MNA to provide  CE ‘s for my education and training portion of my project. I also reached out to the charitable organizations of free clinics in Maryland and Atlanta to provide awareness and training. Collaborated with GMU MAP clinics and Population Health Center to write up a grant proposal for the training and implementation of the thermocoagulator and the Eva colposcopy  in the women’s clinic.

Reflections

Throughout the DNP program, I have been able to develop and perfect analysis of evidence-based literature and employ this into practice.   By this process, I have been able to assist in the generation of new knowledge in my evidence-based project that can perhaps impact practice.  Patient outcomes can be improved by the use of this skill in assuring that the best evidence is utilized in developing clinical practice interventions.  With understanding of this important essential, I also am able to serve as a "practice consultant" for those wishing to learn more about thermoablation as an alternative screen and treatment method.  Demonstration of this topic is listed below in the project proposal paper on Increasing practitioners’ awareness on an alternative screen and treatment method for treating precancerous lesions. In addition, a methodological literature review is provided in my evidence-based  document.
